Patricia Meehan-Trimmer, well known and respected DMV expert, will conduct each one-day workshop. Patricia’s thirty-year career with the DMV and twenty years of training and consulting for auto dealers and credit unions give her a unique and valuable perspective and her approachable style helps her students gain a deep level of understanding of complex DMV concepts that can often bewilder even experienced DMV clerks.
REGISTRATION MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL WORKSHOP SERIES
Module I - Introduction to the Registration Desk and Electronic Filing
One day, 9:00am - 4:30pm

Introduction to processing DMV transactions in the dealership, including compliance requirements, hands-on paperwork processing instruction, how to submit items to the DMV and rules for electronic filing. Upon completion of the seminar the clerk should have a good understanding of what is required of the DMV desk in the dealership, how to set up the desk to run smoothly and what is required to accurately submit items to the DMV.

Module II - Advanced Techniques for Complex Registration Issues
One day, 9am - 4:30pm

Intended for experienced clerks, this program will examine more complex registration transactions and provide guidelines on how to complete them. Topics covered will include uncommon vehicle transfers, how to resolve errors in issued titles, documentation and procedures for registering non-standard vehicles (motorcycles, RVs, vessels, etc.), how to handle missing documentation, how to handle the loss of a delivered vehicle, as well as an in-depth study of registration inquiry reports.

Module III - Problem Deal Clinic
One day, 9am - 2:30pm

Pre-requirements: Minimum 2,000 hours of work experience, completion of Module II
Masters level clinic designed for experienced clerks to take their knowledge to the next level. Participants will be presented with examples of the most complex and difficult registration scenarios and guided through the process to complete each. In addition, participants are encouraged to bring their own problem deals to be reviewed in a group setting.

RMP Certification

Participants completing Modules II and III will qualify for certification as a Registration Management Professional. RMP certification will test individuals on various subjects to establish their deep understanding and advanced proficiency in the area of registration processing.
Those applying for certification will be tested in the following areas:
- Regulations affecting the dealer license
- Rule and procedures for processing DMV paperwork
- Out-of-state sales requirements
- Calculating DMV fees
- BPA procedures
- Contract disclosure review (government fees/taxes)
- Proper submission of documents based on various complex registration scenarios
- Document review to identify errors in DMV forms
Participants who pass the final exam will have proven through testing and demonstrated ability that they are experts in the area of registration processing. Upon passing the exam they will be certified by Auto Advisory Services and Motor Vehicle Software as Registration Management Professionals and will receive recognition on the Auto Advisory Services' Web site.
